Reimagining everyday basics, inspired by her children’s grandmother, Chloe Goldsmith, built Lao Lao in 2023 to offer quality knitwear and everyday staples. In Mandarin, lǎolao refers to one’s maternal grandmother. The relationship that Chloe’s children have with her mom, their lǎolao, is the heart of the company. In 2020, Chloe’s mom found a connection with her family, despite physical isolation, through knitting pieces for her grandchildren. Today, that joy still lives on as the core collection of beanies offered is handcrafted with love by grandmother artisans. But it doesn’t stop there: every LǍOLAO Studios piece feels like a hug every time you slip it on, always made from natural fibers, like Mongolian cashmere, wool, cotton, and linen. These timeless silhouettes are made to last and get better with age.
