Melez gives the grab-and-go purse a thoughtful upgrade with its version of the shoulder bag. Using silk ikat fabric from Uzbekistan for a pattern-like effect, with a slower production pace, artisans in Istanbul hand-weave each bag using decades-old techniques. Melez, meaning ‘mixed,’ honors the bridge that each distinctive bag acts as between the West and the East, between the past and the present.
