Mickey Ashmore began selling Sabah shoes out of his East Village apartment in 2013, but Sabah’s roots lie miles away in Turkey. After wearing a pair of slippers he had been gifted, while living in Istanbul, till they fell apart, Mickey was put in touch with Orhan, one of the best shoemakers in the country, to re-create his pair. They quickly teamed up, along with Orhan’s family of artisans, and Sabah was born. Today, Sabah works with high-quality leather to make shoes in clean, safe, and happy facilities in Gaziantep, Turkey and El Paso, Texas, to sell to people anywhere.
