In 2001, a group of Norwegian surfers took on reinventing the classic flip-flop using natural materials with artisans and rubber experts. With manufacturing centralized to one plantation in Sri Lanka and through a relationship with the Fair Rubber Association, fair and good work standards are ensured, like the on-site kindergarten for the children of employees. From using specific rubber-tapping methods that ensure a tree’s natural life cycle to using the bare minimum of synthetic rubber, the goal of striving for the best possible impact is always top of mind.
